We are seeking a Driven and Results-Oriented Retention Strategist to join our team.

The Retention Strategist at the Common Thread Collective (CTC) plays a critical leadership role in guiding our clients toward sustainable and scalable growth. This position is all about owning the delivery of predictable revenue through retention marketing efforts — using data-backed insights to build forecasts, shape strategic direction, and ensure consistent performance delivery. At CTC, your expertise covers the elements of CTC’s strategic forecasting methods and the foundational principles of retention marketing.

Your role isn’t limited to email strategy—you’re a key partner to our clients on Customer Retention. You proactively communicate the rationale behind our approach and connect the dots between forecasts and the emails/SMS/direct mail/etc. that are sent out, building confidence and deepening trust so that clients feel supported and understood every step of the way.

You stand as a zealous advocate and representative of CTC’s unique approach to retention and its accompanying tools.

As a Retention Strategist, you lead with precision and vision, ensuring that every initiative meets the highest standards of execution and effectiveness.

Minimum Experience Requirement
  • At least 4 years of hands‑on experience in email and SMS marketing, with proven execution across campaigns, automations, segmentation, and optimization.
  • At least 4 years of experience in retention marketing, owning initiatives that drive predictable revenue, customer lifetime value, and ongoing lifecycle improvements.
  • At least 3 years of experience working within a marketing agency, operating in fast‑paced, cross‑functional environments and managing client‑facing responsibilities with excellence.

  • Build an email forecast for clients:
    • Utilize a Growth map using the Prophet System.

  • Execute monthly performance vs forecast, making tactical adjustments and determining resources.
  • Combine data analysis and client feedback to develop strategic plans.
  • Be an early adopter when pivoting.
  • Lead in obstacles to execution.
  • Use tools (memberships, subscriptions, loyalty programs, popups, quizzes, cart drawers, post‑purchase upsells, direct mail, etc.) to improve retention metrics.
  • Maintain ideologies and processes across accounts.
  • Monitor active campaigns, deploy resources, update strategy to hit projected targets.
  • Implement tests to beat best‑performing campaigns.
ENSURING AND HOLDING THE STANDARD OF QUALITY OF WORK
  • Deliverables are on‑brand 100% of the time, collaborating with designers and copywriters.
  • Ensure technical setups of automations, campaigns, and tools work harmoniously.
  • Align client expectations with forecast and strategy.
  • Follow Prophit system execution to 100% within timelines.
  • Deliver work on schedule with optimal quality and detail.
CLIENT COMMUNICATION
  • Champion communication, ensuring clients align on retention goals, revenue goals, and next steps.
  • Send daily performance updates to clients.
  • Align strategy and forecast weekly with clients.
  • Provide weekly Slack updates.
  • Collaborate with Growth Strategists and Media Buyers for reporting.
CONTRIBUTING BACK

JOB SCOPE
  • Oversee profitable growth of retention channels (email, SMS, direct mail, popups, push notifications, subscriptions, memberships, loyalty programs).
  • Write briefs for the team.
  • Complete accurate reports.
  • Analyze metrics and KPIs, provide insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with design, content, and other relevant teams to create engaging email content.
  • Ensure timely delivery of deliverables, managing projects and clients.
  • Keep updated with industry trends, features, and best practices.
  • This is a client‑facing role requiring consultation and problem‑solving beyond email platforms.
  • Prioritize relational equity with team and clients for continued growth.

SALARY RANGE
  • First 30 days – $1.5K (Part‑time transition phase)
  • Days 31–60 – $3K (Full‑time start)
  • Days 61–90 – $4–5K + performance bonuses
