Retail Store Assistant (with Keyholder Responsibility)

£12.21 per hour plus benefits

Reports to: Shop Manager

Department: Trading

Contract: Fixed Term - Part Time

Hours: 6 – Sundays only

Location: Stanmore Shop

About us: At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer. We are dedicated professionals with a purpose, working every day to beat cancer. We are looking for a motivated retail assistant to join our trading team, acting as an ambassador for Cancer Research UK and taking responsibility for the shop on Sundays.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the running of the shop on Sundays, including keyholder responsibilities (training provided) and supporting a diverse team of volunteers.
  2. Assist the shop team in achieving sales and fundraising targets.
  3. Review and process donated goods and new stock.
  4. Generate creative ideas to help increase income, with guidance from the Shop Manager.
  5. Provide excellent customer service to ensure supporters and customers feel welcome and appreciated.
  6. Maintain shop standards regarding safeguarding, compliance, and health and safety.
  7. Perform manual handling and physical activities as part of daily duties.

Candidate requirements:

  • Knowledge of excellent customer service practices.
  • Experience working in lively, vibrant environments.
  • Adaptability to changing situations, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Flexibility to work on a rota basis, understanding that work-life balance is important.
