Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Relief Security Officer for B&Q Nottingham and Netherfield stores to cover annual leave and sick leave. The role pays £12.91 per hour with flexible, on-call shifts as required. Full training and induction provided, with opportunities to gain experience in the security industry.

Responsibilities include patrolling, CCTV and EAS gate operation, and reporting incidents. Prior retail security experience and a valid door supervision license are required.

Qualifications

• Door supervision or security guarding license is required.
• Five-year checkable employment history or evidence of unemployment/education is required.
• Previous experience in a retail security role is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as a visual deterrent on the shop floor.
• Safely detain offenders following H&S training.
• Utilize store security systems including CCTV and EAS gates.
• Collaborate with covert security operatives.
• Investigate losses and support inquiries about known offenders.
• Complete accurate incident reports and company documentation.
• Report crime incidents using a company-provided tablet.
• Conduct routine patrols to ensure customer safety.
• Record patrols in daily activity sheets.
• Provide security updates during store briefings.
• Conduct shift handovers to ensure service continuity.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for all.

Education

Door Supervision or Security Guarding License

Five-year checkable employment history or documentary evidence of any period of unemployment, self-employment, or education
