Job description

Main Responsibilities

As a Retail Security Officer you will provide a visible deterrence, respond to incidents, complete incident reports and collaborate with local authorities. Your guarding duties while in store include:

  • Patrolling the shop floor and deterring criminal activity
  • Assessing and identifying vulnerabilities and working proactively to minimise risk
  • Liaising with management and local authorities when applicable
  • Managing vulnerable persons with empathy to avoid distress
  • Completing colleague and contractor searches in line with customer company policy
  • Digitally reporting incidents and using tablets/phones for daily activity planning
  • Providing detailed and legible incident reporting to assist the client and local authorities

Hours

20 hours per week

Shift Pattern

Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat 18:00-22:00

Hourly Rate

£12.50 per hour (Pension and Perkbox included)

The Person

You will be a confident communicator, able to provide detailed verbal and written accounts of criminal activity. You should be welcoming, patient with customers, and able to handle conflict professionally.

Required Experience and Qualification

You must have a valid SIA Guarding or SIA Door Supervisor licence to apply. Previous experience in a retail security role is advantageous but not essential; full training will be provided. Applicants must provide a full 5‑year checkable work or back‑to‑school history and, if selected for an interview, bring right‑to‑work documents and a recent proof of address.
