Store Protection Officer – Waitrose

Payrate: £13.50 per hour
Hours: 40 h/week, guaranteed hours, unpaid breaks, permanent location
Job Overview
- Retail Security Officer role to protect the Waitrose store, its people and assets by providing security and excellent customer service through Mitie and Waitrose key values.
- £13.50 per hour payrate and numerous Mitie benefits including Save As You Earn, Share Incentive Plan, Cycle to Work, Life Assurance and Childcare Vouchers.
- Full and extensive training will be provided including MAYBO and key focus on customer service.
- Company‑funded SIA licence renewal and full support from the NOC, with technology such as body‑worn camera and incident reporting device.
- Deliver results to meet or exceed the expectations of Mitie and Waitrose using all technology provided and following ASCONE guidance.

Main Duties (Operations)
- Ensure compliance with all policies, legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager and in accordance with UK Law.
- Engage fully with the National Operations Centre (NOC), Mitie management and use technology such as body cameras and mobile devices to report incidents.
- Complete all tasks and duties on site as defined within the assignment instructions.
- Review assignment instructions, familiarize with changes and suggest amendments to improve service.
- Obtain required front‑line licence and wear it at all times while carrying out duties; complete additional contractually required courses.
- Work systematically, methodically and orderly.
Training
- Complete all required competency training and ongoing professional development directed by the Security Account Manager.
- Use technology to achieve key work objectives and enhance job knowledge.
- Renew licence at least 16 weeks before expiry.
Security and Health & Safety
- Identify and report any health and safety hazards or potential hazards on site.
- Remain alert to threats or changes to reduce risk of disruption, loss or damage.
- Use common sense and initiate involvement of others if a situation becomes threatening.
- Maintain professional conduct with difficult customers.
- Complete accurate notebook entries after incidents for use in the incident report process.
- Maintain schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the client.
- Ensure check calls are carried out during the allocated time slot as stipulated in the assignment instructions.
- Call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.
