Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Retail Security Officer to protect customers, staff and stock across our stores. You will maintain a visible security presence, patrol the shop, monitor CCTV, respond to incidents, and support store management.

The role requires a valid SIA Licence, Right to Work in the UK, and eligibility for DBS/BS7858 checks. You will demonstrate excellent communication, a calm, professional approach, and flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and evenings.

Qualifications

• Must have Right to Work in the UK and be eligible for DBS/BS7858 clearance.
• SIA Licence (DS or Security Guarding) required.
• Strong observational skills to identify suspicious behaviour.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for reporting and interactions.
• Proactive and professional approach to safety and security.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence and deter theft/anti-social behaviour.
• Patrol the store and monitor CCTV for suspicious activity.
• Respond to alarms/incidents and escalate as required.
• Conduct searches per company procedures when necessary.
• Complete incident/observation reports accurately.
• Collaborate with store management on security matters.
• Provide a professional and approachable presence to customers and staff.
• Assist customers and staff with queries and de-escalate situations.
• Follow site procedures, policies and legal requirements.
• Support wider team and undertake additional duties as required.

About The Role:

Days of Working:

10:00-18:00 or 11:00-19:00 Monday to Saturday and 10:00-16:00 on Sunday's

As a Retail Security Officer, you will play a vital role in protecting customers, staff, and stock, ensuring a safe and secure shopping environment. You will act as a visible deterrent to criminal activity, provide excellent customer service, and respond effectively to incidents within the retail environment.

As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain a visible security presence, deterring theft and anti-social behaviour
  
• Patrol the store and monitor CCTV for suspicious activity
  
• Respond to alarms and incidents, escalating where required
  
• Conduct searches in line with company procedures when necessary
  
• Complete accurate incident and observation reports
  
• Work closely with store management and staff on security matters
• Provide a professional and approachable presence
  
• Assist customers and staff with queries
  
• De-escalate challenging situations calmly
• Follow all site procedures, company policies and legal requirements
  
• Support the wider team and undertake additional duties as required

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

• Must have the Right to Work in the UK and ability to undergo DBS and BS7858 security clearance
• Valid SIA Licence (Door Supervisor (DS) or Security Guarding)and relevant security experience
• Strong observational skills with the ability to identify suspicious behaviour.
• Proven ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting and interactions.
• A proactive and professional approach to ensuring safety and security.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and evenings.
