JOB PURPOSE

We are hiring an Engineer, Planning & Merchandising to play a central role in developing and enhancing the technology that underpins Burberry's planning and merchandising capabilities. Sitting within our Planning & Merchandising product team, you will design, build, configure and optimise solutions that support critical retail processes including forecasting, allocation, replenishment and inventory planning.

Working closely with Product, Architecture and Business teams, you will take ownership of translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions, contributing directly to platform development, integrations, automation and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems and delivering high-quality solutions that drive commercial outcomes across Burberry.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, develop and enhance Planning & Merchandising solutions across the Board platform and associated technologies.
  • Build, configure and optimise business logic, data models, calculations, workflows and planning applications to support forecasting, allocation, replenishment and inventory management processes.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between Board and enterprise platforms, including SAP, PLM and data services, ensuring reliable and scalable data flows.
  • Write, test and deploy technical solutions, ensuring high standards of quality, maintainability and performance.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable fixes.
  • Contribute to platform modernisation, automation and continuous improvement initiatives that improve engineering efficiency and business capability.
  • Collaborate closely with Business Analysts and Product stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical designs and solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, solution reviews and technical discussions, promoting engineering best practices across the team.
  • Support CI/CD, release management and DevOps practices to improve deployment quality and operational reliability.
  • Contribute to technical design decisions, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation covering solution architecture, integrations and engineering standards.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, providing estimates, identifying dependencies and helping shape delivery plans.
PERSONAL PROFILE
  • Strong experience developing and configuring enterprise planning, merchandising or FP&A platforms such as Board, Anaplan, Blue Yonder, o9, IBM Planning Analytics or similar technologies.
  • Proven experience building technical solutions, integrations and data-driven applications within complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, system integrations, data modelling and data transformation concepts.
  • Experience working with cloud, data or enterprise platforms such as SAP, Azure, Snowflake or equivalent technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills with the ability to resolve complex production issues.
  • Experience working within Agile product teams and contributing throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Passion for engineering quality, automation and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to balance technical excellence with business outcomes and customer impact.
