Job summary

EXL in Leeds is seeking an Azure Databricks Data Engineer to design, build and deliver cloud-based data integration and analytics solutions for our Retail portfolio. This hands-on role requires strong Azure and Databricks expertise and a solid understanding of retail data and business processes.

You will create scalable data pipelines, optimize performance, enforce data quality and governance, and collaborate with stakeholders to turn business requirements into robust data models and insights.

Qualifications

• Retail data domains including customer, product, sales, inventory and supply chain.
• 5+ years of management experience leading delivery teams in data engineering.
• 8-10 years in data engineering/integration in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on Spark (PySpark) and ETL/ELT design.
• Proficient in SQL, Git and CI/CD; familiar with Agile/DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy scalable data pipelines using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL Database.
• Optimize Databricks environments for performance and cost.
• Develop and maintain data integration, ETL/ELT, and data quality frameworks.
• Translate retail requirements into data models across data layers.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver data solutions and insights for retail operations.
• Create technical docs including data flows, architectures and test plans.
• Support Retail data transformation initiatives with governance and best practices.
• Stay current with data engineering and Azure technologies for continuous improvement.
