Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: MURPHY & BAILEY LTD. Murphy & Bailey, Belfast’s first dog‑friendly coffee and pet shop, is seeking a Retail Customer Service Assistant. We serve coffee and snacks in a dog‑friendly environment with a small outdoor seating area, and sell upscale pet products and pet‑themed gifts. You will be an integral part of the team serving customers and meeting dogs on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that the store is ready to open including setting up systems, coffee machine, cleaning and stocking products, preparing orders for post / delivery.
• Unpacking deliveries, pricing and transferring stock onto the website as they arrive.
• Keeping the store smelling and looking fresh, may even include mopping up after the odd puppy pee!
• Keep the counters, kitchen and fridges etc. clean and presentable at all times, this will include cleaning the coffee machine / grinder at end of the working day.
• Maintaining social media (Insta stories / Facebook posts) which references customers and dogs. Creating content on new or recently restocked products in store.
• Be attentive to all aspects of the customer and dog’s experience as needed to ensure excellence.
• Ensure the planning and execution of established safety, security and quality standards, policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications

• 1 plus years experience a retail or customer facing environment and/or barista experience.
• Proven success in a fast‑paced work environment, ability to multitask and thrive in an open environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• You must be a dog lover who is excited to work in a dog‑friendly environment.
• An interest and / or experience in social media platforms, creating content and willingness to participate in the same.
• Passion for cleanliness and a strong sense of customer service.
• A genuine and upbeat personality‑we serve our coffee and greet each dog with a smile!
• Self‑motivated, proactive, and organised, you should be able to prioritise and be adept at working independently as well as in a team.
• Flexible schedule, collaborative spirit, and willingness to pitch in on a wide variety of tasks with a no job too big or small attitude.

Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
