The Role and Candidate

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven Construction Project Manager to join our Retail Construction Team, based in central London. This role is ideal for a proactive and ambitious individual looking to lead construction projects for one of Europe’s most iconic and playful designer toy brands. You will be responsible for overseeing new store openings across the UK and Europe — from initial feasibility and planning through to full project execution and successful handover.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the full project lifecycle for multiple retail construction projects across Europe, from feasibility through to handover.
  • Oversee simultaneous projects at varying stages and ensure successful, timely delivery.
  • Conduct regular site visits, attend site meetings, and lead defect inspections.
  • Monitor and manage project schedules and budgets, providing clear reporting on progress and variances.
  • Lead engagement and coordination with key stakeholders including landlords, design consultants, general contractors, engineers, and internal departments (e.g., HQ Construction and Group Finance).
  • Prepare and present project budgets for financial approval, ensuring alignment with company goals and compliance standards.
  • Conduct thorough bidding processes, comparing contractor proposals to secure competitive pricing and ensure quality execution.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to uphold delivery timelines and brand standards.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, technical specifications, and local regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in construction management, preferably within retail or F&B sectors.
  • Proven track record in delivering high-quality, multi-site projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, design principles, and European building codes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence and maintain strong relationships across internal and external teams.
  • Comfortable working under tight deadlines with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to problem-solve logically and independently.
  • Flexibility to travel frequently across the UK and Europe for on-site supervision.
Desirable (Not Essential)
  • Proficiency in CAD or relevant project management software.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP or equivalent.
  • Fluency in a second European is a strong advantage.
