Job description

We are partnering with a long-established, fifth-generation butchery business with a rich 180-year heritage. Under passionate new ownership, they continue to champion traditional butchery, native and rare breeds, and complete farm-to-fork traceability.

With their own on-site slaughter facility, a traditional counter, a neighbouring deli, and regular involvement in local markets, this business is one of the UK's few remaining butchers who manage the full process from animal to customer, with craftsmanship and care.

They are now looking to appoint an Experienced Butcher - or an ambitious Trainee Butcher who has had some experience, ready to develop under highly skilled mentors.

What you'll be doing as a Catering Butcher:

This is a hands‑on, craft‑focused position where quality, precision, and tradition matter. You will be involved in:

  • Breaking down carcasses and preparing cuts for retail and wholesale
  • Producing traditional products such as sausages, burgers, and specialist cuts
  • Providing knowledgeable, friendly counter service
  • Upholding excellent hygiene and food safety standards
You may be:
  • An experienced butcher with good butchery and counter skills
  • A developing butcher looking for career progression and high‑level training
You should also:
  • Take pride in quality and presentation
  • Understand the importance of provenance, welfare, and traceability
  • Work well within a small, supportive team
  • Be reliable, professional, and motivated
  • Be flexible to support an additional retail counter when required
  • Food safety qualifications are beneficial, but training can be provided.
Why This Opportunity?
  • Learn from butchers with over 27 years of hands‑on experience
  • Be part of a business that genuinely supports local farming and sustainability
  • Work in a traditional environment not factory‑style or industrial
  • Clear opportunities for growth, skill development, and career progression
  • Supportive team culture and staff benefits
  • Join a business with a true heritage story and deep community roots

If you are passionate about traditional craft butchery and want to be part of a business that values skill, integrity, and quality, we would love to hear from you.
