About the role

Within our Financial Services Risk practice, the Banking Non-Financial Risk & Compliance team works with our banking and capital markets clients on their most pressing risk and regulatory programmes. This is an exciting time to join the growing team of c.120 individuals covering retail, wholesale and capital markets. We work across Front Office, Risk, Compliance, Finance and Sustainability functions.

Our teams are self-starting, agile and thrive on new and diverse challenges. Our clients are global, as are their biggest challenges. We operate across the PwC network to bring the best of PwC to our clients.

You will be passionate about client service and the fast-paced changing nature of the banking sector. We are particularly interested in individuals who embrace tech-enabled ways of working and are excited about the potential of AI and other transformative technologies.

Recent projects have included:
  • Governance reviews and remediation
  • Risk and controls framework reviews and remediation
  • Design and implementation of 1st and 2nd line functions in the Finance, Risk and Compliance space covering business processes, controls Information technology enablement (incl. IT general controls)
  • Broad ranging transformation initiatives within the Finance, Risk and Compliance functions
  • Technology deployment support including ERP and CMS
  • GRC implementations and controls environment enhancement
  • Sustainability reporting support and operating model design
  • Regulatory reviews and remediation

You will take a leading role across a range of projects to build a broad range of expertise and be passionate about delivering value and insights to your clients. You'll invest time in building your client relationship network and thrive on taking on new challenges in unfamiliar situations.

The skills and experience we're looking for:
  • Experience working within financial services risk and control projects either from a consulting, banking or auditing background
  • Broad understanding of requirements in relation to risk management and control frameworks
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders, developing effective working relationships and providing insightful management information
  • Technical and practical experience related to non-financial risk management and controls (such as review and design of controls, Sarbanes-Oxley preferred)
  • A willingness to learn new skills and help develop and innovate new client propositions
  • A proven track record of working successfully with teams to deliver change projects, including monitoring engagement progress and budgets
  • Experience managing small teams of junior staff and contributing to the development of your own and the team's technical acumen
  • Strong commercial awareness, sound reporting skills and experience leading teams whilst working under your own initiative
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (prior experience in visual presentation and report writing is preferred) to effectively communicate key messages to different levels of stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure, deal with ambiguity and be agile across a range of projects in financial services
  • Ability to apply good judgement during engagements and elevate issues appropriately
  • Strong attention to detail, including robust analysis and presentation skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI/Tableau)
Ideal but not essential:
  • Experience leveraging technology tools and generative AI in day to day activities, or as part of projects or programmes of work
