Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is recruiting a Retail Area Security Officer to maintain a safe, secure environment across multiple retail sites. The role involves mobile coverage, visible deterrence, and delivering excellent service to customers and colleagues.

You will patrol stores, monitor CCTV, respond to incidents, and work flexibly across locations and shifts, including evenings and weekends. A valid SIA licence and professional approach are essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a strong, visible security presence to deter theft and risks.
• Conduct regular patrols across store premises with safety and vigilance.
• Monitor CCTV and security systems to identify and respond to suspicious activity.
• Carry out searches in line with policy and legal guidelines.
• Respond to alarms and incidents, escalating to management or emergency services.
• Complete accurate incident and observation reports.
• Collaborate with store teams to address security concerns and support loss prevention.
• Provide a professional, approachable presence for customers, staff, and visitors.
• Assist with directions, queries, and general support as needed.
• De-escalate confrontational situations calmly and effectively.
• Adhere to site procedures, policies, and legal requirements.
• Support the wider security team and undertake additional duties as directed.
