Job summary

Forvis Mazars in the UK is seeking an experienced Administrator or Senior Administrator to join our Manchester team, focusing on corporate insolvency engagements, including Administrations and CVLs.

You will manage cases from appointment to closure, work with the case manager and officeholders, and contribute to strategy while embracing a hybrid working model.

A proactive, detail‑driven approach and strong communication with creditors and directors are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience of corporate insolvency work, particularly Administrations and/or CVLs.
  • Experience using IPS Cloud (or equivalent insolvency software) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • CPI and/or an accounting qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Good working knowledge of insolvency legislation and relevant current case law.
  • Experience of preparing statutory reports, notices and other insolvency documentation.
  • Experience with dealing with creditor claims, employee claims, investigations and asset realisations.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of corporate insolvency cases from appointment through to closure, under appropriate supervision.

  • Identifying and escalating technical, commercial and risk matters to managers and officeholders at an early stage.
  • Carrying out work efficiently and in compliance with relevant legal and statutory obligations and the Firm's procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate case records, including checklists, diaries and electronic files.
  • Preparing statutory notices, reports, proposals, estimated outcome statements and additional reports to key stakeholders.
  • Assisting with fee estimates, remuneration approvals and decision procedures.
  • Drafting correspondence and responding to routine enquiries from creditors, directors and other stakeholders.
  • Reviewing books and records to identify potential asset recovery opportunities and investigation matters.
  • Undertaking investigations in accordance to meet SIP2 and CDDA requirements.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of case strategies, including documenting key decisions and actions.
  • Preparing case reviews in line with the Firm’s policy, highlighting action points to be followed up.

About the role

Forvis Mazars Restructuring & Insolvency Services is looking for an experienced Administrator or Senior Administrator to join our established team in Manchester. You will work alongside a diverse and experienced group where your personal development is at the forefront of our culture. While the role is based in our Manchester team, you may also have the opportunity to work with our Insolvency Practitioners in other regions as we operate as a national practice across all areas of restructuring, by embracing a hybrid working model.

Job Purpose

The purpose of the role is to be a key member of a team responsible for a portfolio of corporate insolvency engagements involving Administrations and Creditors' Voluntary Liquidations (‘CVLs’). You will be proactive in progressing those cases in conjunction with the case manager and officeholders.

Job Role

  • Drafting correspondence and responding to routine enquiries from creditors, directors and other stakeholders.
  • Reviewing books and records to identify potential asset recovery opportunities and investigation matters.
  • Undertaking investigations in accordance to meet the requirements of SIP2 and CDDA, including preparing director conduct reports and supporting with subsequent reports/enquiries, where required.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of case strategies, including documenting key decisions and actions.
  • Preparing case reviews in line with the Firm’s policy, highlighting action points to be followed up and being proactive in dealing with outstanding matters.
  • Processing case transactions, including payments, receipts and journals, using IPS Cloud.
  • Preparing VAT returns and supporting VAT, PAYE and corporation tax compliance requirements in correspondence with specialist tax teams, where required.
  • Assisting with employee and pension-related matters, including collating data, reviewing claims and preparing submissions to the Redundancy Payments Service.
  • Supporting asset realisations, including liaising with agents and solicitors.
  • Assisting with the marketing process when a business is offered for sale.
  • Understanding the requirements of Statement of Insolvency Practice 9, record time appropriately and produce SIP 9 reports following training on the Firm's bespoke time-recording system.
  • Attending meetings and preparing file notes to document discussions, decisions and agreed actions points to follow up.
  • Supporting the development of junior team members through coaching, guidance and knowledge sharing.
  • Assisting with the management, storage and archiving of company records and case documentation.
What we are looking for
  • Experience of corporate insolvency work, particularly Administrations and/or CVLs.
  • Experience using IPS Cloud (or equivalent insolvency software) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • CPI and/or an accounting qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Good working knowledge of insolvency legislation and an awareness of relevant current case law.
  • Experience of preparing statutory reports, notices and other insolvency documentation.
  • Experience with dealing with creditor claims, employee claims, investigations and asset realisations.
  • Able to prepare estimated outcome statements, including a Prescribed Part calculation, where applicable.
  • Experience of maintaining case control schedules, including matters such as retention of title claims and debtor collections.
  • Experience of managing delegated aspects of insolvency cases with appropriate supervision.
  • Experience of liaising with directors, creditors, agents, solicitors and other key stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Able to identify technical or case-related issues, undertake appropriate research and recommend practical solutions, where appropriate.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive approach to learning, personal development and continuous improvement.
