Job description

As one of the world's largest networks of audit, tax and consulting firms, RSM delivers big ideas and premium service to help middle-market businesses thrive. We are a fast-growing firm with big ambitions - we have a clear goal to become the premium adviser to the middle market, globally. This vision touches everything we do, motivating and inspiring us to become better every day. If you are looking for a firm where you can build a future and make an impact, then RSM is the place for you.

Make an Impact at RSM UK

At RSM, we celebrate individuality, fresh thinking, flexibility, and collaboration. Our culture not only embraces change but also impacts it. We are not a one-size-fits-all firm and work hard to create an environment where our people can make a difference - to themselves, their career, their teams, and to the success of RSM and our clients.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Restructuring Advisory team in Birmingham. You will have the opportunity to develop a breadth of commercial skills and experience across advisory and formal insolvency assignments within the team. The primary focus of the role is based in Birmingham; however, we operate a national advisory practice so the successful candidate may be required to travel anywhere in the UK to undertake assignments. The role will involve attending marketing events and working with the Partners and Directors to help them with their marketing and business objectives. The position encourages growth and career development, with a clear path of progression.

You’ll make an impact by:
  • Managing and delivering insolvency and restructuring assignments in line with statutory, regulatory and firm procedures.
  • Working closely with Partners, Directors and the wider Restructuring Advisory team to understand client challenges and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Supporting formal insolvency procedures, with a particular focus on Administrations, Company Voluntary Arrangements (CVAs) and Liquidations.
  • Analysing and challenging client information and support restructuring solutions, including accelerated M&A processes, creditor negotiations and debt restructuring.
  • Managing key aspects of insolvency cases, including trading businesses, asset realisations, debt recovery and reporting to secured creditors.
  • Supporting the wider team through case administration, compliance activities, training, knowledge sharing, networking and technical development.
What we are looking for:

Are you someone who thrives on variety, loves learning new things, and enjoys connecting with people? If you can spot inefficiencies in everyday life and are passionate about making improvements, this role is perfect for you!

We value diverse experiences and perspectives. Here’s what we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:

  • ACCA / ACA (or equivalent) qualified, with previous experience in Restructuring Advisory, insolvency or a similar role.
  • Proven ability to lead advisory and insolvency assignments, supported by strong technical, analytical and report-writing skills.
  • Experience of analysing and/or preparing financial information, with a strong commercial outlook.
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, with experience building relationships with colleagues and external clients.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills, with a commitment to high-quality delivery within agreed timeframes. JIEB qualification would be advantageous.
What we can offer you:

Within RSM, we promote from within wherever possible, listen to your career goals and aspirations, and support you in your short- and long-term goals.

We offer a flexible reward and benefits package that will help you have fulfilling experience, both in and out of work.

  • Hybrid and flexible working
  • 27 days holiday (with the option of purchasing additional days)
  • Lifestyle, health, and wellbeing including financial wellbeing benefits such as financial tools, electric car scheme and access to a virtual GP
  • Access to a suite of 300+ courses on demand developed by our inhouse talent development team
