Job summary

Haddenham Garden Centre Ltd seeks an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead the Gardeners Retreat restaurant for a busy, 280-cover operation. You will manage day-to-day operations, drive profitability, and develop a large team while maintaining food quality and customer service standards.

The role is full-time with alternate weekends, offering daytime hours, a contributory pension and a performance-related bonus after probation. You will ensure HR, HSE and Food Safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a manager of a high volume restaurant operation.
• Excellent people management skills with the ability to lead by example.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with an understanding of KPI’s and how to drive these with a real emphasis on sales, waste and margins to strengthen the Restaurants growth.
• A proven track record of delivering results and driving performance improvements across previous roles.
• The confidence to make decisions and take ownership.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Excellent knowledge of Food Safety and HACCP procedures.

Responsibilities

• Full day-to-day management of the restaurant operation
• Leading, motivating and developing the restaurant team
• Take ownership of sales, labour costs, gross profit margins and the overall profitability of the restaurant. Identify trends and implement actions to improve profitability.
• Manage stock levels, wastage and operational costs
• Managing rotas and staffing levels to maximise productivity
• Ensure that high standards of quality, customer service and presentation are maintained at all times
• Handling customer feedback, ensuring all issues are resolved effectively
• Manage recruitment, onboarding, training and retention of the restaurant team
• Work to all HR, HSE, Food Safety, Environmental and Fire guidelines in line with company policy and current legislation.

Haddenham Garden Centre is a family-owned business which has been established for over 45 years. Our popular restaurant “The Gardeners Retreat” offers table service and focuses on high quality homemade, locally sourced food and drink.

We are looking to recruit an experienced and commercially minded Restaurant Manager to take responsibility for both the day-to-day operation and development of the restaurant.

With over 280 covers, the restaurant requires an experienced manager who is comfortable leading a large team, effectively managing labour costs and delivering consistently high standards of food and customer service whilst adhering to all Health and Safety and Food Safety Regulations.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious hospitality professional who wants genuine responsibility and the opportunity to make a significant impact on the performance of the business.
