Description & Requirements

The Bloomberg Terminal quickly and accurately delivers business and financial information, news and insight around the world to over 315,000 customers worldwide. Our global terminal customers depend on our proprietary high-quality hardware to be able to access our terminal and make critical business decisions.
Bloomberg's Global Finance team works with all things (you guessed it) ! We help business partners with all aspects of Procurement to cash collection, customer billing, revenue recording, vendor invoice processing and payments, regional treasury, and cash funding, indirect tax, capital planning and fixed assets. Global Procurement supports both the strategic sourcing and operational purchasing of goods and services for the organization. What does that mean? We procure and distribute the goods and services that Bloomberg needs to do business. We handle any vendor-related risks and deliver the best customer service in the world.
We understand urgency, work hard, have commercial acumen and are customer service driven. Our clients internally and externally count on us daily. Our team is tight, but our culture is wide open, where we challenge and support each other's creative ideas to remain first-class.

The Role

Bloomberg's Global Procurement team is seeking a Responsible Procurement Lead to lead the continued development and delivery of our Responsible Procurement agenda. This role will partner closely with Bloomberg's Corporate Sustainability team and cross-functional partners across Procurement, Legal, Vendor Risk Management, Engineering and Workplace Sustainability to embed environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations throughout the supplier lifecycle.

Responsible Procurement at Bloomberg means integrating ESG parameters into procurement decisions, practices and planning while maintaining a balanced focus on cost, quality, service, risk and commercial outcomes. You will translate enterprise sustainability priorities, supplier inclusion goals and emerging regulatory expectations into practical procurement processes, supplier engagement strategies and reporting controls. Key priorities include supplier decarbonization, supply chain emissions data, ESG supplier due diligence, modern slavery and human rights risk, supplier inclusion, nature-related considerations and category-specific responsible sourcing guidance.

We'll Trust You To
Responsible procurement strategy and governance
  • Own and evolve the Responsible Procurement strategy and roadmap for Global Procurement, aligning priorities with Bloomberg's Corporate Sustainability agenda, procurement governance, enterprise inclusion objectives and relevant reporting expectations.
  • Develop responsible procurement policies, Sustainable Operating Guidelines, category-specific guidance and education that translate ESG priorities into practical decision criteria across the supplier lifecycle.
Supplier decarbonization, climate data and nature
  • Partner with Corporate Sustainability on supplier emissions measurement, spend data controls, supplier and category mapping, output validation and supplier decarbonization transition plans.
  • Segment suppliers by emissions impact, sustainability maturity and purchasing category, then design engagement strategies and incentives that support credible decarbonization and embed climate, renewable energy, nature and biodiversity considerations into sourcing activity.
ESG risk, due diligence and regulatory readiness
  • Strengthen ESG supplier risk management, including modern slavery and human rights risk assessment, ESG screening, escalation, remediation and audit-ready evidence.
  • Work with Legal, Vendor Risk Management and Procurement partners to embed ESG due diligence into vendor screening, sourcing, contracting and ongoing supplier management, while translating relevant regulatory and disclosure developments into scalable controls.
Supplier inclusion and social impact
  • Lead supplier inclusion initiatives that create practical opportunities for small, diverse-owned, disabled-owned, Indigenous-owned and other underrepresented supplier communities where relevant.
  • Support Bloomberg’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) efforts in Australia, including ongoing engagement with Supply Nation to strengthen Indigenous supplier inclusion.
Procurement execution and stakeholder leadership
  • Build strong relationships with sourcing teams, business stakeholders and suppliers, influencing across functions and regions to balance ESG objectives with commercial and operational priorities.
  • Bring procurement discipline to responsible procurement initiatives, including RFI/RFQ/RFP design, supplier evaluation, negotiation, contracting, governance, supplier performance management and senior-level materials.
Data, reporting and technology
  • Establish KPIs, dashboards and controls that measure progress, identify risk and opportunity, and support internal governance, annual sustainability, impact and modern slavery reporting.
You’ll Need To Have
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain sustainability, responsible sourcing, ESG procurement or a related field; BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering responsible procurement, supply chain sustainability or responsible sourcing strategies in a large, matrixed organization.
  • Familiarity with procurement fundamentals across RFI/RFQ/RFP processes, category strategy, supplier evaluation, negotiation, contracting, vendor management and supplier performance management.
  • Breadth across ESG topics relevant to procurement, including carbon, nature, supplier inclusion, human rights, responsible sourcing, reporting and disclosures.
  • Working knowledge of supply chain emissions, Scope 3 or spend-based carbon methodologies, supplier segmentation and decarbonization engagement approaches.
  • Practical understanding of ESG supplier risk, due diligence and regulatory readiness, including modern slavery, human rights, CSDDD or comparable supply-chain due diligence requirements, SBTis, screening, escalation, remediation and audit-ready evidence.
  • Experience translating sustainability, inclusion and risk objectives into practical sourcing guidance, RFP questions, procurement controls and supplier engagement actions.
  • Strong analytical capability and comfort working with procurement, supplier risk, sustainability, carbon accounting or ERP systems to improve data quality, monitor KPIs and support decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills, with the ability to produce clear materials for senior stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, manage complex initiatives, lead through ambiguity and drive change across regions and functions.
  • Commercial judgment and regional/cultural awareness, with the ability to balance ESG objectives with cost, quality, service, operational resilience and risk.
  • Attention to detail and a collaborative approach.
We’d Love To See
  • Experience in financial services, technology, data, media or another highly regulated or data-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Watershed, Supplier.IO, D&B, ProcessUnity, EcoVadis, SAP or equivalent supplier risk, procurement, sustainability or carbon accounting tools.
  • Experience contributing to sustainability or impact reports, modern slavery statements, ESG disclosures, supplier codes of conduct or transition plans.
  • Exposure to climate technology, AI, advanced analytics, renewable energy, nature and biodiversity, responsible materials or hard-to-abate supplier categories.
  • Experience engaging with senior leadership, executive committees, Board-level reporting, external ESG forums or procurement peer groups.
  • Professional qualification such as CIPS, CPSM, CPP, CPM, or credentials in ESG/sustainability, human rights due diligence or supply chain risk management.
