Responsible Financial Officer – Lichfield City Council

Salary: £48,226 – £52,413 (SCP 37–41)
Location: Lichfield
Closing date: 5pm, Friday 19 December 2025

Key Details

Lichfield City Council is looking for an experienced Responsible Financial Officer to join our small and friendly team. This is a key senior role in a large parish council and will shape how we manage and report on the Council’s finances in the future.

While public sector experience is beneficial, we are very open to candidates with transferable skills from other backgrounds. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact on our services for the residents of this beautiful city.

Main Responsibilities
  • Oversee all financial management and reporting for the Council.
  • Prepare budgets, monitor expenditure, and manage audits.
  • Maintain transparency, compliance, and financial controls.
  • Support continuous improvement and modernisation of systems.
  • Line-manage accounts staff and liaise with internal/external auditors.
What We’re Looking For
  • Qualified in finance (AAT or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in financial management and reporting
  • Excellent communication and IT skills (including Sage and MS Office)
  • Proactive, organised, and confident working independently or in a team
  • CiLCA qualification (or willingness to obtain) desirable
