Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Respiratory Specialist Nurse to join our Primary Care team for the London Region. This is a brand new role that gives you autonomy to manage your own caseload across six secure sites.

  • Heathrow IRC
  • HMP Pentonville (Cat B)
  • HMP Wormwood Scrubs (Cat B)
  • HMP Brixton (Cat B)
Hours and salary

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00‑17.00 or 08:00‑16:00

Salary: Full‑time, annual salary up to £63,119 per annum (FTE) – dependent on experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Undertake assessment and treatment of patients with COPD, Interstitial Lung Disease and Bronchiectasis, working collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
  • Implement and evaluate patient care, including quality improvement and referral to specialist pathways.
  • Conduct annual long‑term condition reviews in line with Health in Justice 7A indicators and service specifications.
  • Offer health‑promotion advice and support, including smoking cessation where appropriate.
  • Support the delivery of respiratory education and training across the London Region.
  • Educate and empower patients to recognise early changes in their condition and achieve independence.

Requirements
  • NPM registered Adult Nurse (or equivalent)
  • Post‑registration qualification in respiratory disease/COPD (Level 7 or above)
  • Advanced respiratory assessment skills, including spirometry interpretation (ARTP certification) and FeNO evidence
  • Experience working in a community or secure environment (hospital, community or prison) – not essential, but an advantage
