Job description
Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Respiratory Specialist Nurse to join our Primary Care team for the London Region. This is a brand new role and you will have the autonomy to manage your own caseload in a unique setting. This is a patient‑facing role and you will be working across all sites throughout the week.

Responsibilities

In this role you will have the opportunity to provide the highest standards of healthcare to our patients, without having to compromise on efficiency and quality. As a Respiratory Specialist Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Undertake the assessment and treatment of patients with respiratory disease (COPD, interstitial lung disease and bronchiectasis) working collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
  • Implement and evaluate all aspects of patient care including quality of care, referrals to specialist pathways and developing individualised treatment/care plans.
  • Conduct annual long‑term condition (respiratory) reviews in line with Health in Justice 7A indicators and service specification.
  • Offer health promotion advice and support to patients with respiratory disease including smoking cessation where appropriate.
  • Support the delivery of respiratory education and training across the HiJ London Region.
  • Educate and empower patients to identify early signs of change in their condition and provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to gain independence and make informed choices.

Qualifications
  • NMC registered Adult Nurse, or equivalent.
  • Post‑registration qualification in respiratory disease/COPD (Level 7 or above).
  • Advanced respiratory assessment skills, including spirometry interpretation (ARTP certification) and evidence of FeNO certification.
  • Evidence of working in a community setting.
  • Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
