Job description

A permanent position has arisen for a band 5 Respiratory Physiologist within a busy Lung Function and Sleep Apnoea Department at University Hospital Llandough.

We are a team of 21 staff – including Clinical Scientists, Physiologists and Administrative support – and have 3 Trainee Clinical Scientists on site. We also host a variety of students from Swansea University undertaking the BSc. Healthcare Science programme.

We are a department that thrives on consistency, service improvement led by all members of the team and keen supporters of continuous professional development.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and interpret full lung function tests to a high level, including reversibility, 6‑minute walk testing, earlobe blood gases and respiratory muscle testing.
  • Apply knowledge of Sleep Disordered Breathing and Treatment.
  • Issue, download and analyse sleep studies (overnight oximetry, Apnoealink and Nox).
  • Participate in sleep MDT, manage Hypertonic Saline and Colomycin trials, assist CPET, and carry out long‑term CPAP compliance checks.
  • Work independently, supervise students and collaborate effectively within the team.
Qualifications
  • Qualified to BSc. Healthcare Science (Respiratory Physiology) level (or equivalent).
  • Ability to work independently, supervise students and enjoy working within a team.
  • Welsh language skills are desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
