Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Resilience Project Engineer to support power resilience across water and wastewater sites. You will perform resilience assessments, develop proposed solutions and help implement priority interventions to ensure safe, dependable power systems that withstand interruptions.

The role applies LV engineering and resilience principles to identify vulnerabilities and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a technical role.
  • Experience delivering, designing and estimating LV engineering projects.
  • Experience applying Health & Safety Regulations and principles to electrical projects.
  • The ability to work independently while also building positive relationships and using initiative to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Ability to interpret and update technical documentation, single line diagrams and risk assessments.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to apply LV electrical engineering and Power Resilience principles.
  • Ability to apply compliance and safety standards (CDM, ESQCR).
  • Data analysis and reporting for technical and compliance purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Resilience Assessments: lead LV site and system Power Resilience assessments, producing surveys, updated drawings and data packs identifying vulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement.
  • Solution Development: lead development of Power Resilience solutions, contributing to design options, calculations and scopes with stakeholders.
  • Resilience Delivery: collaborate with internal delivery teams to ensure planned power investments are delivered effectively and in line with resilience standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: use technical problem-solving to support improvements in resilience, safety and compliance, promoting best practices across the team.
  • Technical Documentation and Records: maintain accurate and up-to-date technical records, including tests, inspections, drawings and outage/black start plans for assigned sites.

Job description

What you’ll be doing as a Resilience Project Engineer:

The Resilience Project Engineer will support the delivery of Power Resilience across Thames Water’s water and wastewater sites by completing resilience assessments, developing proposed solutions and helping to implement priority interventions.


As a Resilience Project Engineer, you will apply LV engineering and Power Resilience principles to identify critical vulnerabilities and ensure power systems are safe, dependable and better equipped to withstand and recover from power interruptions.


This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a vital area of UK infrastructure and make a meaningful difference to customer outcomes and environmental protection. As the team grows, members will play an important role in shaping future ways of working and bringing their expertise to create lasting positive impact across Thames Water.


Base location:

Location can be flexible for either London or Thames Valley (e.g., Hampton, Mogden, Reading & Basingstoke)


Working pattern or hours:

36 Hours per week (Monday to Friday)


Key responsibilities:


  • Resilience Assessments: You will lead LV site and system Power Resilience assessments, producing surveys, updated drawings and data packs that identify vulnerabilities, critical paths and opportunities for improvement.

  • Continuous Improvement: You will use technical problem-solving and analytical thinking to support improvements in resilience, safety and compliance, while encouraging the sharing and adoption of best practice across the team.

  • Technical Documentation and Records: You will maintain accurate and up-to-date technical records, including tests, inspections, drawings and outage/black start plans for assigned sites.


What you should bring to the role?
