Job summary

St John Ambulance is seeking a Business Continuity & Emergency Planning Manager to lead our organisation-wide approach to resilience and crisis response. You will work with senior leaders to ensure robust plans, training and assurance processes are in place to protect essential services.

The role requires strong experience in BC management, ISO 22301 and NHS EPRR, excellent communication and the ability to translate complex risks into practical, proportionate actions.

Qualifications

• Experience developing and implementing business continuity and emergency planning within a complex organisation.
• Strong understanding of ISO 22301, NHS Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) requirements, or equivalent frameworks.
• Excellent communicator capable of building trusted relationships with senior leaders and external partners.
• Able to analyse risk, identify critical activities and translate information into practical plans.
• Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities and stay calm in crises.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the BCM system, aligned with ISO 22301 and NHS resilience standards.
• Develop, maintain and test business continuity, emergency preparedness and crisis response plans.
• Design and deliver engaging training programmes and exercises.
• Work with senior leaders and external partners to identify risks and strengthen resilience.
• Monitor performance, produce assurance reports and translate lessons into improvements.
• Participate in the on-call rota to provide expert advice during incidents and coordinate response.
