Job description

Fulbridge Social Care is recruiting Experienced and Trainee Residential Youth Workers to join our casual team in our clients' children’s residential homes and Independent Living settings. We are seeking flexible, reliable, and interactive individuals eager to work in a specialist environment where full training and qualifications are provided.

The role involves providing security, guidance, interaction, and support to young people with challenging behavior and complex needs within residential or independent living settings. The goal is to create an environment that caters to their intellectual, spiritual, social, and emotional needs.

You will work with young people aged 11 to 18, who have been placed into care for various reasons and have diverse disorders, behaviors, and needs. It requires confidence, patience, and skills to work successfully with these young people and positively impact their lives.

Responsibilities include supporting young people with daily tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning, education, and shopping. You will also interact with professionals like Social Workers, Probation Officers, and Police Officers, and support young people in environments such as classrooms, courts, and police stations.

A valid driving license is essential, as you will be required to drive the unit car and transport young people to destinations like family contacts, school, and social activities.

Please note that you must complete an enhanced DBS check with Fulbridge Social Care and successfully finish one of our induction programs before placements are offered.

Main duties and responsibilities:
  1. Build strong professional relationships with service users and staff.
  2. Maintain a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for young people and staff.
  3. Keep up-to-date with communication and information systems.
  4. Participate actively in meetings.
  5. Support young people in managing their behavior using approved skills.
  6. Promote equality and acknowledge individual differences.
  7. Protect service users from abuse from staff, visitors, or other service users.
  8. Write accurate reports and maintain records for monitoring purposes.
  9. Attend all training and work towards relevant qualifications.
  10. Attend work reliably and punctually, following a set shift pattern.
  11. Stay informed about procedures and policy updates.
  12. Ensure health and safety for yourself and others.
  13. Undertake additional duties relevant to the role.
Person Specification:
  1. Ability to establish professional relationships with young people.
  2. Ability to read, understand, and produce clear reports.
  3. Effective communication skills with young people.
  4. Willingness to participate in all activities and go where service users go.
  5. Reliability in completing tasks to a high standard.
  6. Willingness to engage in training and development.
  7. Ability to follow a work pattern and attend punctually.
  8. Understanding of effective teamwork.
  9. Knowledge of health, safety, and welfare of young people.
  10. Awareness of youth development and learning.
  11. Understanding of equal opportunities and discrimination prevention.
