Job summary

Compass Homes in Burnley is seeking a proactive Residential Support Worker to help children thrive in a home setting. You will facilitate activities, monitor wellbeing, safeguard at all times and support the wider team with day-to-day tasks.

Previous experience is welcome but not essential; two weeks of classroom training plus shadow shifts start you on a clear career path. You can achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 12 months, with a starting salary of £27,976 plus £60

  • You will meet a variety of children and young people, some of whom may require high levels of supervision and support.
  • You will support the wider team with a range of domestic tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and food shopping.
  • You will create timetables, manage paperwork and write reports.

We are looking for someone who
  • Is 22 years of age or above (to meet Ofsted regulations).
  • Is caring, compassionate and able to build positive relationships with others.
  • Has a valid manual driving licence.
  • Has the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

Previous experience is not essential for this role. Our Skills to Care induction includes 2 separate weeks of classroom-based training and a week of shadow shifts to prepare for the new role.

You will also be supported to achieve your Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare. This qualification is achievable within a 12-month period, at which point you will be a Level 3 qualified Residential Support Worker, supporting your ongoing development and career progression with Compass.

What will I do as a Residential Support Worker?
