Job summary

Mears Group PLC is seeking a skilled Painter & Decorator for our Thurrock team. You will perform internal painting across residential properties, preparing surfaces, applying finishes, and ensuring safety and quality standards.

The role involves both independent work and collaboration within a maintenance team to restore properties to lettable condition. The position is full-time and permanent, offering a range of benefits and opportunities for training and development.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in painting and decorating, including wallpapering.
• Experience with damp and mould treatments.
• Ability to work at height and use ladders safely.
• Own hand tools and full UK driving license.
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
• Good communications and customer service skills.
• Basic health and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces and paint internal surfaces such as walls, ceilings, doors, and woodwork.
• Apply emulsion, gloss, and specialist finishes with care.
• Wallpaper and decorative detailing where required.
• Carry out external painting at height using ladders.
• Damp and mould treatments.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Support void property refurbishments and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Conduct snagging and touch-up work after other trades.
• Maintain tools and company vehicle to a high standard.
• Communicate professionally with tenants, clients, and colleagues.
• Complete job records and documentation on time.
• Work flexibly to meet deadlines and service expectations.
