Job summary

CareTech is seeking a Residential Childcare Practitioner to support young people with daily routines and therapeutic care in Balfron Glasgow/Stirling. You will help with mornings, homework, meals and engaging activities, while building trusting relationships and delivering high-quality, child-centred care.

You will work 40 hours per week on a permanent contract, with progression opportunities and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Warm, patient and a great listener focused on achieving outcomes.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Open to ongoing development with supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure our children receive the highest level of support.
• Support senior staff with timely updates and records.
• Promote individuality and avoid a one-size-fits-all approach.
• Encourage independence, life skills and positive behaviour through therapeutic approaches.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning and risk assessments.
• Be part of a warm, homely environment by assisting with light housekeeping.
• Build strong relationships and provide emotional support.
• Participate in team meetings, training and reflective practice sessions.
• Plan and join activities like trips to the park, movies, or creative projects.

Residential Childcare Practitioner
Location: Balfron Glasgow/Stirling G63 Scotland
Salary: £27,976 unqualified - £29,036 with an SVQ or HNC - £33,259 with SVQ and HNC per annum
Hours per week: 40
Contract: Permanent

Role Description

You will support young people with their daily routines, like ensuring they're ready for school or college in the mornings, making sure homework is done ready for the next day, coming together at meal times, planning activities and encouraging hobbies and healthy pastimes. You will provide consistent, nurturing, and therapeutic care to our children and young people who have experienced trauma and adversity, building trusting relationships, supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes, and work collaboratively with colleagues and professionals to deliver high-quality, child-centred care.
