Job summary

S Guest Consultancy Services Ltd are recruiting for an Assistant Buyer / Buyer on a 9-12 month fixed term contract in the West Midlands, with office-based work in South Staffordshire and weekly site visits to manage procurement across multiple housing developments.

The role focuses on materials procurement and plant hire, with close collaboration with site teams and subcontractors to ensure projects stay on programme and within budget.

Qualifications

• Experience procuring construction materials and/or plant hire.
• Residential housebuilding experience would be highly advantageous.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Procurement of materials and plant hire across multiple housing developments.
• Source and negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value.
• Manage plant hire requirements across live sites.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Obtain quotations and prepare purchase orders.
• Monitor material schedules and delivery programmes.
• Liaise with Site Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Contracts Managers.
• Manage supplier performance and resolve supply chain issues.
• Support cost control initiatives and procurement reporting.
• Attend weekly site visits across the West Midlands region.
