A growing surveying practice in the North East is recruiting a qualified Building Surveyor (AssocRICS or full MRICS) to join the team. The role will primarily involve delivering RICS Level 2 and Level 3 residential building surveys, but there is also opportunity to take on project & professional work, plus support / training responsibilities.
Key responsibilities
- Conducting Level 2 & Level 3 residential surveys for home buyers, owners, and other clients
- Producing clear, accurate, and timely reports in accordance with RICS standards
- Liaising with clients, managing expectations, and explaining findings in a professional manner
- Working on a mix of jobs: surveys, valuations, estate / block property related work, possibly commercial/residential mix over time
- Opportunity to be involved in project-based / professional work (e.g. refurbishment, re-instatement cost assessments, specification writing)
- Contributing towards mentoring / training more junior surveyors or assistants
Skills & experience
- Qualified as AssocRICS or MRICS, with relevant surveying experience
- Proven experience carrying out Level 2 & Level 3 residential building surveys
- Good technical knowledge: building defects, structure, materials, construction types, damp, movement, etc.
- Strong report writing and communication skills (written & verbal)
- Client‐facing confidence; ability to explain issues to non‐technical people
- Self‐motivated, organised, with ability to manage a varied workload independently
- Ideally some exposure to project / professional surveying work, or willingness to develop that side
What’s on offer
- Base salary in the region of £45,000 - £55,000, depending on experience & qualification
