Resident Welfare Officer

Location: North Yorkshire/Leeds

Full-time, Permanent Role

Salary: Up to £28,917 per annum, plus a company car!

Mears Housing Management is seeking dedicated and compassionate Resident Welfare Officers to help vulnerable individuals avoid homelessness and move into settled accommodation.

About the Role

The Resident Welfare Officer role involves a mix of administrative, practical, and supportive tasks, primarily focused on helping service users with their housing and well-being needs. This position is very service-oriented, requiring strong organisation and communication skills. You’ll need the ability to balance administrative tasks with hands-on support.

This position is a field-based role and does come with a Company Car to cover the required patch. Holding a full UK driving license is a requirement for this position.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Conducting face-to-face support sessions, covering health, finance, repairs, and the move-on process.
  • Identifying and reporting any safeguarding concerns.
  • Keeping detailed records and reporting incidents as necessary.
  • Managing your own diary efficiently and working independently.
  • Overseeing a portfolio of properties, ensuring maintenance and repairs are reported and completed.
  • Carrying out general cleans and ensuring quick turnaround of properties when service users move out.
  • Checking completed maintenance work and planning further support needs.
  • Assisting service users with appointments and other essential tasks.
  • Arranging food parcels and other necessities.
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with probation services, liaising with them at least weekly.
Role Criteria
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals or in a housing/welfare support role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients both face-to-face and by phone/email.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining a high standard of service.
  • A proactive, compassionate, and empathetic approach to problem-solving.
  • Full UK driving license (company car provided!).
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
