Here at GXO, we’re currently looking for a Resident Site Engineer, to join our Inteq contract, based in Rotherham. You will be the primary technical contact at site, responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, and automated systems. You’ll ensure optimal equipment performance, resolve issues proactively, and build strong customer relationships through expert support and communication.

This is a full‑time permanent position. You’ll be working Monday to Friday, covering the hours of 09:00 till 17:00. However, flexibility is required for urgent call‑out issues.

What you’ll do on a typical day:
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on automated systems
  • Act as the on‑site technical expert, managing queries and coordinating contractors
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety and manufacturer standards
  • Deliver training and updates to customers, maintaining strong relationships
  • Manage service documentation, performance logs, and spare parts inventory
What you need to succeed at GXO:
  • Strong previous experience within an engineering role within an automation, manufacturing, or distribution environment
  • Engineering qualifications (NHC, NHD, NVQ Level 3, or time‑served apprenticeship)
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automated systems
  • Familiarity with conveyor systems, cranes, shuttles, and PLCs/control systems
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and maintenance software
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and organisational skills
