Overview

A global leader in forklift trucks and warehouse equipment is recruiting Resident Engineers at a customer site in Oxford — and they’re keen to speak with military veterans from REME, Royal Engineers, RAF/Army/Navy engineering branches, or any hands‑on technical trade.

The Role

As a Resident Engineer, you’ll be permanently based at a dedicated customer site, becoming a trusted technical specialist within their operation. You’ll handle a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
  • Conducting preventative maintenance to keep the fleet operational
  • Servicing forklifts and advanced material‑handling machinery
  • Supporting day‑to‑day operations and maintaining strong customer relationships
  • Providing technical advice, ensuring equipment safety and reliability

Who They’re Looking For

The company welcomes engineers from a range of backgrounds, especially those with:

  • Military mechanical/electrical engineering experience (REME VM/Tech Elec, Armoured Systems, Marines/RAF techs, etc.)
  • Vehicle technician or plant/engineering backgrounds
  • Experience with plant equipment, powered access, agricultural machinery or mechanical systems
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) ideal, but not essential
  • Confidence using IT systems and diagnostic tools
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a wider team
What You’ll Receive
  • £31–43k, depending on experience
  • Monday to Sunday rota, with shift premiums and overtime available with a choice of 40 or 45 hr working week
