Ready Room Manager (Maternity Cover)

Location: East Sussex
Contract: Fixed-term, 5th January 2026 – 31st May 2026
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (8:30am–4:30pm, including a 30-minute unpaid break)

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated individual to join a school’s Pastoral Team in a temporary role. This position involves managing an internal inclusion space designed to support vulnerable and disaffected students, providing guidance, structure, and care to help them succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise the Ready Room, ensuring a calm, safe, and supportive environment.
  • Support students individually or in small groups with behaviour management, self-esteem, anger management, and peer relationships.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to monitor progress and facilitate reintegration into mainstream classrooms.
  • Maintain accurate records of behaviour incidents and support the preparation of reports.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of internal inclusion provision.
  • Undertake administrative duties to support the wider Pastoral Team as required.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience working with young people.
  • Confident, calm, and consistent approach to behaviour management.
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet the varying needs of students.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships.
  • Good standard of education, including written and verbal communication.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office and general IT systems.

  • Tactful, discreet, and diplomatic in communications.
