Job summary

Doubtless Pet Care in London is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join our Actuarial Finance team, focusing on reserving, monitoring, and planning. This role offers exposure to reserving analyses, financial reporting, business planning and risk management across the business.

You will develop high-quality actuarial models, collaborate with Finance, Underwriting and Risk teams, and translate complex data into clear insights for senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience applying actuarial, analytical or statistical techniques within insurance or a similar data-driven environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience producing accurate analysis and calculations.
• Strong attention to detail, with a focus on quality, controls and meeting deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to a range of audiences.
• Organised and collaborative, with the ability to manage priorities and take ownership of work.
• Understanding of data science principles and their application in actuarial analysis.
• Knowledge of general insurance reserving and claims analysis.
• Experience of insurance financial reporting, business planning, reinsurance, Solvency II or underwriting risk.
• Experience within pet insurance or personal lines insurance.
• Experience using actuarial software (e.g. ResQ, Emblem) or programming tools such as SQL, Python, R or VBA.

Responsibilities

• Produce and validate reserving analyses.
• Investigate trends in claims performance and loss ratios.
• Transform complex data into clear, actionable insights that support business decision-making.
• Work closely with Finance, Underwriting and Risk, contributing to reinsurance and underwriting risk monitoring activities.
• Support key financial reporting, audit and regulatory activities, maintaining high-quality actuarial models, data and documentation.
• Develop technical actuarial expertise and commercial understanding while progressing in your career.
• Collaborate with experienced actuarial professionals to enhance governance and controls.
