Job summary

Admiral Group is seeking a Senior Reserving Actuary to join our Reserving team in the UK. You will own and contribute to quarterly reserving across Motor, Household and Van, partnering with Finance, Claims and Risk to drive robust insights and better processes.

As a senior member, you will mentor junior colleagues, challenge outputs, and shape how we apply IFRS17 and Solvency UK frameworks. You’ll engage with senior stakeholders and help transform our actuarial tooling and reporting.

Qualifications

• Qualified or nearly qualified Actuary (IFoA or equivalent).
• Strong reserving experience, ideally within personal lines.
• Knowledge of Solvency UK and IFRS17 frameworks.
• Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience mentoring others.
• Confident presenting complex insights to senior stakeholders.
• Ability to manage priorities and deliver to deadlines independently.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with actuarial data and models.

Responsibilities

Job description

Excellent opportunity to join our Reserving team here at Admiral Group as Senior Reserving Actuary. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is looking to apply the knowledge and skills they have gained in their actuarial career to date in a fresh new environment, one which will challenge but ultimately reward you with responsibility for contributing to key projects. The Role Reporting to the Head of Reserving, you'll be a key part of the team from day one - building your understanding of our business, contributing to reserve reviews, and helping to shape how we continuously improve our processes. With the ever-changing external environment, this is a great time to be working within the Reserving Team of a leading UK insurer. As a senior member of the team, you'll also play an important role in supporting and mentoring junior colleagues, helping to grow capability across the team. You'll work closely with a wide network of stakeholders, including Finance Senior Management, Claims, the Reserving Committee, Audit, Line 2 Risk, Reinsurance partners and external actuarial partners, giving you real visibility and influence across the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Driving continuous improvement by identifying and implementing smarter, more efficient processes
• Supporting key initiatives such as data transformation and reserving enhancements
• Reviewing and challenging Solvency UK Technical Provisions and IFRS17 outputs
• Building models and tools to support evolving business needs
• Staying ahead of industry trends and best practice
• Ensuring documentation is clear, robust and aligned with Technical Actuarial Standards

Requirements

• Qualified or nearly qualified Actuary (IFoA or equivalent)
• Strong reserving experience, ideally within personal lines
• Knowledge of Solvency UK and IFRS17 frameworks
• A strong analytical mindset, with excellent attention to detail
• Experience supporting or mentoring others
• Confidence working with senior stakeholders and presenting complex insights clearly
• Ability to manage priorities and deliver to deadlines independently
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with actuarial data and models

Desirable skills and experience

• Experience across multiple product lines (e.g. Motor, Household, Van)
• Exposure to transformation or process improvement initiatives
