Job summary

Job description

National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit, New Radcliffe House, Radcliffe Observatory, Woodstock Rd, Oxford OX2 6GG

The National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit (NPEU) is looking for a Researcher in Statistical Epidemiology to join our research team working on an exciting new programme of research to improve understanding of the longer-term effects of medical interventions in pregnancy on children’s health and development. You will contribute to the design, conduct and analysis of observational studies using large, complex, routinely collected UK health and education data, including CPRD, HES and ECHILD, and methods such as target trial emulation. You will undertake data management and statistical analysis, contribute to the development of study protocols, and draft study reports and papers for peer-reviewed publication. You will work closely with internal and external collaborators, including service users, and contribute to the wider academic activities of the Unit.

You will hold an MSc in statistics, epidemiology or a health-related field which includes a substantial amount of biomedical statistics and have substantial experience in health services research and epidemiology. You will have practical experience of managing and analysing large and complex datasets and proficiency in STATA or R. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience of preparing documents for publication and drafting manuscripts, and the ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team are essential.

The post is offered on a full-time basis and is fixed term for three years. .
