Job summary

Simmons & Simmons in London is seeking a Researcher or Assistant Researcher to join the Knowledge Management department. You will provide legal and business research support to lawyers and Business Services teams, manage subscriptions, and help develop current awareness services.

In the Research Services team, you will adopt AI systems, deliver training on research tools, coordinate onboarding for new joiners, and maintain intranet content and knowledge resources.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out legal and business research to support the firm’s lawyers and Business Services teams.
  • Support the procurement and ongoing management of online research resources, liaising with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and cost-effective acquisition and use.
  • Deliver training on research skills and tools, including the use of AI for research.
  • Contribute to the firm's current awareness services, including search creation, user administration and source management.
  • Adopt and utilise the AI systems available within the firm, applying them appropriately to day-to-day tasks and developing an understanding of relevant use cases across the firm.
  • Maintain accurate records of subscriptions, licences and renewals within the library management system and internal databases.
  • Assist with the editing, maintenance and development of intranet content and pages.
  • Help coordinate and organise communications and training for new joiners to the firm.
  • Organise and maintain the firm’s physical library collections, ensuring resources are catalogued and easily accessible.
  • Share knowledge and know-how with team members, fostering a collaborative working environment.
  • Contribute to Research Services and Knowledge projects as required.

The role

We are looking for a Researcher or Assistant Researcher to join our Knowledge Management department in London. Working as part of the Research Services team within the global Knowledge function, the Researcher will provide a professional and timely legal and business research service, support the management of online and print research resources, and contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, responsive service to the firm's lawyers and business services teams.


What will you do?

  • Experience of major legal and business research sources including Lexis and Westlaw.
