Job description
Researcher

Farnham

£30,000 - £35,000

About the Company

A well-established UK workplace design, fit-out and furniture solutions specialist is seeking a talented Researcher to join their team. The organisation provides a full service offering — from workplace consultancy and design, through to build and furniture supply — delivering high-quality environments that enhance brand identity, support productivity and reflect client culture. With an emphasis on collaborative, family-style culture within a growing team and a portfolio of repeat clients, they are positioned for ongoing growth in the commercial fit-out sector.

About the Role

In the role of Researcher, the successful candidate will support the business's commercial and strategic functions by gathering, analysing and presenting market and competitor data relevant to the workplace interiors, fit-out and furniture sectors. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting desk-based research to identify trends, competitor offerings, client demands and emerging opportunities in the workplace environment market.
  • Collating information from a variety of sources (industry reports, company websites, trade publications, interviews) and synthesising insights into clear, actionable intelligence.
  • Assisting in the preparation of internal reports, client pitch material and business development documentation by providing rigorous and up-to-date research findings.
  • Working closely with design, build, furniture supply and consultancy teams, to ensure the research output aligns with commercial strategies and supports project delivery.
  • Maintaining databases, tracking market changes and proactively flagging new potential leads or shifts in the competitive landscape.

This is a great opportunity for a proactive researcher to become part of a dynamic construction and fit-out focused business where your work will directly support high-impact design and build projects.

Rewards & Benefits
  • Join a company that promotes a supportive, team-oriented culture with a “family” mindset — colleagues are empowered, managed and valued.
  • Opportunity to work on high-profile fit-out and furnishing projects across the UK, providing exposure to leading workplace environments.
  • Professional development: access to learning opportunities and training to broaden research, analysis and sector-specific knowledge.
  • An attractive remuneration package, with the potential for progression as the company continues to grow.
  • Flexible working arrangements (including home/office hybrid model) recognising modern ways of working in the industry.
  • Located in a well-connected base with potential for hybrid working, offering a balanced working environment and improved work-life integration.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience (or strong academic background) in research, business intelligence, market analysis or a similar role — preferably within commercial interiors, construction, architecture, furniture or fit-out sectors.
  • Excellent desk-based research skills: ability to source, validate, synthesise and present data from diverse sources.
  • Strong analytical mindset — able to identify patterns, draw insights and present findings with clarity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce professional reports and client-facing documentation.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint); familiarity with databases and CRMs is advantageous.
  • Self-motivated, well-organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment.
  • An interest in workplace design, interiors, furniture markets or fit-out trends is a strong plus.
  • Ideally located within commuting distance of the business's base (and able to attend the office regularly as required).
