About the role

We are seeking a Research Technician to play a key role in a new gut hormone receptor drug discovery programme. Gut hormones regulate many metabolic processes, and there is great interest in exploiting their effects therapeutically.

What you would be doing

The successful applicant will join a thriving and world‑leading group engaged in making and applying scientific discoveries in the gut hormone field with the ultimate aim of improving human health. You will play a key role in in vivo and in vitro testing of new gut hormone analogues designed by the group.

What we are looking for
  • Knowledge of current therapeutic approaches to obesity and type 2 diabetes
  • Strong focus on G protein‑coupled receptor pharmacology/biology and experience of in vivo pharmacology work in a related area
  • Ability to prioritise a varied workload and work under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to follow protocols and learn new techniques in a concise and skilled manner
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and to be open‑minded and cooperative
  • Flexible attitude towards work
