Job summary

University College London (UCL) invites applications for a Research Technical Officer in the Neuroscience, Physiology and Pharmacology division. The post is based in London and is a permanent, full-time role within the NPP Core Technical Team.

The successful candidate will coordinate technical management across multiple laboratories, provide hands-on support for molecular biology workflows and cell culture, and ensure Health & Safety compliance while liaising with Estates for refurbishment

Qualifications

• BSc/Level 6 in a relevant Biological Sciences subject or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience in supporting mammalian and insect cell culture in a CL2 environment.
• Proven ability to operate and manage laboratory equipment and infrastructure, including training, maintenance, troubleshooting and lifecycle management.
• Experience in Health & Safety management in a laboratory environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong organisational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, monitor and deliver technical management to multiple laboratories within NPP.
• Provide core technical support across CCMN and related labs, including setup of procedures.
• Handle Health & Safety responsibilities and equipment troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with Home Office regulations for Schedule 1 rooms.
• Collaborate with Estates and Operations for refurbishment input and project facilitation.
