Job Description

You’ll conduct the investigations that form the backbone of our watchdog work—uncovering conflicts of interest, documenting corporate governance failures, tracking policy changes, and building comprehensive public records of AI company behavior. You’ll combine deep research skills with strategic thinking to ensure our work is rigorous, defensible, and impactful.

Responsibilities
  • Lead major research initiatives investigating AI company governance and safety practices
  • Synthesise information from diverse sources: corporate disclosures, legal filings, regulatory documents, media reports, and insider accounts
  • Track company implementation of safety commitments and identify patterns in governance decisions
  • Conduct systematic monitoring of company policies and announcements
  • Perform structured analysis comparing stated commitments against actual behavior
  • Construct detailed timelines for complex corporate developments
  • Identify relationships and conflicts of interest through network analysis
  • Collaborate with coalition partners, whistleblowers, and legal experts
  • Work with communications team to ensure findings reach appropriate audiences
  • Maintain rigorous documentation standards
Desired qualifications
  • Experience in investigative journalism, policy research, corporate accountability work, or similar research-intensive fields
  • Demonstrated ability to find and verify relevant information through public records, open source data, and strategic research
  • Strong analytical capabilities and ability to synthesise large amounts of information
  • Familiarity with major AI companies, technology risks, policy debates, and safety issues—or ability to quickly develop expertise
  • Strong attention to detail
Bonus qualifications
  • Experience with opposition research or competitive intelligence in nonprofit or policy contexts
  • Technical skills in information gathering and analysis
  • Familiarity with legal frameworks relevant to AI governance
  • Experience filing formal complaints or working with regulatory bodies
