Job description

Durham University’s Advanced Research Computing directorate (ARC) are recruiting a Research Software Engineer to work within the Skills Hub for Accelerated Research Environments Inspiring the Next Generation (SHAREing – https://shareing-dri.github.io). You will be embedded into the SHAREing project team, working closely with the PI, project members and the research computing platforms team within ARC.

The project aims to create an upskilling and code porting landscape – predominantly for simulations and AI running on HPC machinery – for the whole UK DRI community. This includes creating material for RTP upskilling, including running events, establishing a national performance assessment service, conducting performance assessments and benchmarking case studies, and helping to transition codes into the era of accelerated compute.

The post will be embedded on this grant led by P.I. Tobias Weinzierl as Director of Institute of Data Science and academic in Computing Science, and will sit within ARC’s Research Software Engineering function led by Samantha Finnigan.

Grade 7; £38,784 – £46,049 per annum
Open-Ended/Permanent
Full Time 35 hours/week
Core office hours with flexible/hybrid working as standard.
A minimum of 2 days in the office is expected, plus any additional on-site commitments.
