Overview

We’re partnering with a Series A Biotech startup that has recently raised £14M to accelerate its mission of developing transformative therapies. As they scale their R&D function, they’re seeking a Research Scientist to join the growing team. This is an opportunity to join a high-growth biotech at a pivotal stage, where your contributions will directly shape the company’s progress and pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and analyse experiments to advance core research programs.
• Develop, optimise, and validate assays, protocols, and methodologies.
• Maintain clear and detailed records (electronic lab notebooks, reports, presentations).
• Present results to cross-functional teams and contribute to strategic decision-making.
• Collaborate with colleagues across biology, computational science, and engineering to accelerate discovery.
• Stay up to date with emerging literature, techniques, and technologies to drive innovation.
• Support the establishment of scalable lab operations and best practices.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• PhD in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field (Master’s with strong industry experience will be considered).
• Postdoctoral or industry research experience preferred, though curiosity, creativity, and drive are most important.

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on expertise in molecular and/or cellular biology techniques.
• Familiarity with data analysis tools (R, Python, Prism, or similar).
• Experience in translational research or a startup environment is an advantage.

Soft Skills

• Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, resourceful environment.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with scientific curiosity.
