Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Research Project Manager to lead delivery of the NIHR i4i (Invention for Innovation) Product Development Award project: "HOLO‑AIM: Holographic surgical guidance using Artificial Intelligence and Mixed Reality for safer and more efficient surgery." The project, a collaboration between The Royal Marsden Hospital, Imperial College London and industry partner Holocare, aims to clinically validate an AI‑powered mixed‑reality surgical‑guidance platform.

Main Duties
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the project is delivered on time, within scope and budget.
  • Coordinate activity across academic, clinical and industry partners and manage risk, governance and reporting to meet NIHR requirements.
  • Oversee project finances, NIHR‑compliant reporting and budget control (c. £2 million).
  • Support governance, contracts, IP/data management with partner research offices and legal teams.
  • Engage stakeholders and PPIE partners to embed patient perspectives in design and evaluation.
  • Plan dissemination and stakeholder‑engagement activities to maximise impact.
  • Contribute to preparation of future translational research proposals to UK and international funders (NIHR, MRC, Innovate UK, UKRI, Horizon Europe, EIC).
Qualifications
  • Degree in a relevant subject (medical, biological, health sciences) or equivalent experience in clinical/health research.
  • Project‑management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2) or demonstration of managing research or innovation projects in the NHS or HEI sectors.
  • Proven experience delivering multi‑partner research or innovation projects, ideally involving medical devices, AI or digital‑health technologies.
  • Experience in operational leadership, budget monitoring, funder reporting and managing governance, contracts and risk registers.
  • Excellent stakeholder‑management and communication skills across academic, NHS and industry settings.
  • Desirable: Higher degree (MSc or PhD) in a relevant subject, experience of inputting to research funding applications to develop/translate technologies into patient benefit, and experience of designing and delivering training.
Working Conditions
  • Hybrid role: three days per week on site at our Chelsea campus, with flexibility for remote working.
  • Occasional travel to Sutton and partner institutions may be required.
