Job summary

The University of Edinburgh is seeking a registered nurse to lead patient recruitment, data capture and follow-up for international clinical studies funded by the British Heart Foundation, working primarily at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. You will collaborate with Chief and Principal Investigators, require cardiovascular care experience and NHS familiarity, and hold NHS registration.

The role is full-time, 35 hours/week, with a fixed term to 31 December 2030, and hybrid working is possible

• Registered Nurse with clinical experience in cardiovascular medicine and ECG interpretation.
• 3 years post-registration experience in acute secondary care setting.
• Experience with NHS medical records system.

The Opportunity:

This full-time position will play a key role in the delivery of multi-centre, international clinical studies, funded by the British Heart Foundation, and looking at the best ways to diagnose and manage heart attacks. Working along the Chief and Principal Investigators and the Project Team, you shalllead on patient recruitment, data capture, and study follow-up activities at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh as well as helping coordinate the clinical activities at other sites both within and outwith the UK. By helping facilitate these clinical studies it is anticipated you will be helping to make a significant contribution to the way that cardiovascular conditions are managed worldwide.

Your attributes for success:

• Registered Nurse with clinical experience in cardiovascular medicine, including ECG interpretation
• 3 years post-registration relevant experience in acute secondary care setting.
• Experience with NHS medical records system
• Excellent team working skills with ability to work using own initiative.
• Excellent time management skills/ability to prioritise workload

This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering requests for flexible working patterns and/or hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working. However, the nature of this position means that on-campus working shall be the default.

An Honorary NHS contract will be sought for the successful post holder. You therefore must be eligible to hold an honorary contract with NHS Lothian, and must also be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council.

A market pay supplement equivalent to 7% of salary shall be payable in addition to substantive salary. Additionally, the normal incremental pay range for this post will be points 1-9 of the published scales.
