Job summary

University of Oxford is seeking a highly organised REF Officer to support preparations for the REF 2029 submission across six Units of Assessment. We welcome applications for part-time working at 0.8 FTE. Interviews are scheduled for 1 October 2026, and the post is a full-time fixed-term position until May 2029.

Job description

Research Excellence Framework (REF) Officer

The Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division is seeking a highly organised and collaborative REF Officer to support preparations for the University's REF 2029 submission.

Working across six Units of Assessment, you will provide specialist administrative and project support to divisional and departmental colleagues. Your responsibilities will include coordinating REF activity, collating and checking staff, output, impact and research environment information, advising colleagues on REF requirements, supporting academic decision-making, and helping to ensure that work is completed accurately and to University deadlines.

You will have experience of administration or service delivery in higher education or a comparable organisation, excellent organisational and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex data and competing priorities. Experience of REF, research policy or a research-intensive environment would be an advantage, but are not essential.

This is a full-time, fixed-term post until May 2029. Applications for part-time working at a minimum of 0.8 FTE will also be considered.

Interviews will be held on 1 October 2026.
