Neo4j Research in London is expanding with post-doctoral researchers to realize the Aurendil vision: a radical new graph query runtime. You will help design and implement the Aurendil prototype from ground up within a cross-disciplinary team.
The role covers end-to-end development, from theory to evaluation, and dissemination to Neo4j product teams and the academic community. A strong background in systems research and languages like C++, Java, or Rust is beneficial, with visa support for
Neo4j is the graph intelligence platform that transforms data into knowledge to power the next generation of intelligent applications and AI systems. It includes enterprise-ready knowledge graphs for accurate, explainable, and governed AI; the most comprehensive, trusted, and easy-to-deploy graph capabilities across any environment and data source; and an unmatched ecosystem trusted by 84 of the Fortune 100 and supported by the world’s largest graph community. Intelligence that works. Results that matter.
Built to work everywhere and integrate with everything across every cloud for dynamic, personalized, and autonomous AI systems. We deliver quicker results, contextual knowledge, and solutions that impact customers and employees across the business.
At Neo4j, we have always strived to help the world make sense of data.
As business, society and knowledge become increasingly connected, our technology promotes innovation by helping organizations to find and understand data relationships. We created, drive and lead the graph database category, and we’re disrupting how organizations leverage their data to innovate and stay competitive.
Our mission in Neo4j Research is to create technology options through research so that our product engineering teams can continue to lead the market. We are computer scientists who enjoy building the technologies that will underpin our future graph intelligence platform. We are ambitious system builders who relish the challenge of trying new things, of upending orthodoxy, and we like to have some fun along the way. The Aurendil project embodies all of these: a new kind of database runtime that allows us to try new ways of executing queries on cloud hardware, that forges its own path parallel to, but separate from, the 40 years of relational database orthodoxy, and a team with an easy camaraderie.
We are expanding our UK-based team with talented post-doctoral researchers to take on the responsibility of realizing the Aurendil vision to build the next-generation of graph databases. The goal of the Aurendil project is to construct a radical new query language runtime for graph databases inspired by advances in programming language technologies. As such, we are building a cross-disciplinary team of post-doctoral researchers to design and implement the Aurendil prototype from the ground up.
Post-doctoral researchers joining the team will participate in the end-to-end development of a completely new database system architecture - from theoretical underpinnings, through to implementation and evaluation - and the dissemination of results to Neo4j product teams and the academic research community.
We are especially interested to hear from candidates with backgrounds in systems research - such as query languages, databases, compilers, parallel computing, distributed systems, or and hardware acceleration.
As this is a Research role, the ideal candidate will have experience working in an academic or industrial research environment and bring a robust understanding of research practice. A strong background in designing and developing complex systems using languages like C++, Java, or Rust would be beneficial.
The role is based in London, UK and requires significant in-office presence. Neo4j can provide visa support for exceptional international applications.
