An exciting opportunity is available for a Research Associate in infectious disease modelling to join an international collaboration between the UK, Singapore, Vietnam and Cambodia. The postholder will join a vibrant and collaborative research programme exploring the development and assessment of novel, high-throughput immunological assays to improve the surveillance of spillover of viral families of pandemic potential. The programme, supported by the UK Medical Research Council, Singapore PREPARE programme and NAFOSTED, Vietnam, has 4 overarching aims:
The new position is based in the Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis, founded in 2007. The mission of the Centre is to be an international resource and centre of excellence for research and training in the epidemiological analysis and modelling of infectious diseases. The Centre has built upon a world-leading research group in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Imperial College London to undertake applied collaborative work with national and international agencies in support of policy planning and response across a wide range of emerging infectious disease threats and global health challenges.
The postholder will lead the Imperial College contribution to this broad collaborative research project with a focus on supporting the within-host immune system mathematical modelling underpinning the utility of immunological assays as part of a broader preparedness and response to emerging threats agenda. The postholder will work with academic and research staff the Centre working within the preparedness and response to emerging threats theme, as well as interacting closely with the international interdisciplinary collaborative team including the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit in Vietnam, Institut Pasteur in Cambodia, and the National University of Singapore and A*star research institutes in Singapore. The post will require some travel to the region.
Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have not yet been officially awarded will be appointed as a Research Assistant.
This role is for a full-time and fixed-term contract of 12 months.
