Job summary

University of Portsmouth is seeking a Research Assistant for the XTRUST-6G project, based in Portsmouth, England. The role is on-site, full-time with a casual hours basis and salary in the £14.16–£16.19 per hour range.

The successful candidate will collect and analyse data, develop software tools, and contribute to scholarly outputs such as papers and reports, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Principal Investigator, Professor Stavros Shiaeles, and support delivery of research and technical activities.
• Collect, organise and manage research data from experiments, simulations, testbeds and other sources.
• Analyse data using statistical, computational and machine-learning methods and present findings clearly and accurately.
• Contribute to preparation of high-quality research papers, technical reports, project deliverables, presentations and other academic outputs.
• Conduct literature reviews, identify research gaps, document methodologies, interpret results and support publication submissions.
• Design, develop, test and maintain software tools, scripts, prototypes and experimental programs (e.g. data-processing tools, cybersecurity applications, network experiments, AI models, automation scripts, research demonstrators) relevant to the XTRUST-6G project.
• Support development of research proposals, background research, technical writing, work-package design, methodology development, impact planning, budgeting information and preparation of supporting documentation.
