Job summary

The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) invites applications for a Research Assistant to support the preparation of a REF Impact Case Study. The role focuses on collecting, organising and analysing evidence of research impact, working closely with academic colleagues and external partners.

You will manage datasets, perform qualitative and quantitative analysis, and contribute to drafting high-quality written outputs and supporting materials for the REF Case Study.

Qualifications

• Completed first degree in International History or related discipline.
• Experience collecting, managing and analysing qualitative and/or quantitative data.
• Excellent analytical abilities with accurate, critical interpretation of information.
• Excellent written communication: producing clear, concise reports.
• Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while contributing in a team.

Salary from £36,513 to £41,465pa with potential to progress to £44,468 inclusive of London Allowance

This is a fixed term appointment for 3 months starting immediately

The Department of International History at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) seeks to appoint a highly motivated and organised Research Assistant to support the preparation of a REF Impact Case Study by collecting, organising and analysing evidence of research impact.

Working closely with academic colleagues, the successful candidate will contribute to the collection, management and analysis of qualitative and quantitative research evidence and assist in producing high-quality, evidence-based outputs to support the Department’s REF impact activities.

This post offers an excellent opportunity for an early career researcher to gain valuable experience of research impact, REF preparation, mixed-methods analysis and collaborative research within one of the world’s leading departments of international history.

The Successful Candidate Will

• work closely with academic staff to support the delivery of an impact-focused research project;
• liaise with colleagues and external partners, including the University of Cambridge, to facilitate access to relevant research impact evidence;
• organise, manage and maintain qualitative and quantitative datasets;
• undertake data cleaning, coding and analysis using appropriate research methodologies;
• synthesise evidence from multiple sources to identify key findings, themes and demonstrable research impacts;
• assist in the preparation of high-quality written summaries, reports and supporting documentation;
• contribute to drafting evidence and supporting material for a REF Impact Case Study;
• help ensure that project milestones and deadlines are achieved; and
• undertake any other research-related duties appropriate to the grade of the post.

Candidates Should Have

• a completed first degree in International History, History, Political Science, the Social Sciences or another relevant discipline;
• demonstrable experience of collecting, managing and analysing qualitative and/or quantitative research data;
• excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex information accurately and critically;
• excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise and well-structured reports;
• excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail;
• the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative research team
